The Turtles Are Done and Ready for the Indiana National Guard Youth Camp

This is the sixth year that I have scroll sawn small turtle blanks (6" x 8") for the National Guard Youth Camp.

The Camp is for the youth of the National Guard members. They paint and decorate the turtles in preparation for the Annual Turtle races.. A hole has been drilled at the top (Head) of the turtle for a string to pass thru. One end of the string is tied to a start point about 25 ft away and the racer holds the other end. By pulling on the string the turtle flops its way to the racer.
Of course several racers compete at one time so the action is competitive and fun.

250 turtles were drawn and sawed this year. Glad to do my part for the kids.
